Low Priority Halloween 2008

We did not do much with Halloween this year. After a somewhat chaotic visit to Kercher's to get pumpkins earlier in October (they were about to close, we had to hurry while pulling the boys over steep rutted dirt paths for what seemed like a mile, we didn't bring a camera, and the pumpkins we chose ended up not able to sit up straight...), we got caught up in other things. So the day before Halloween we finally carved a couple of pumpkins.

I'll design it, you make it happen!

Ok, Mom, I touched it, now you finish the job.

We went with the path of least resistance in costumes, too: Theo was Spiderman, with a cape (yes, we know the real Spidey has no cape) and gloves borrowed from someone at church, and Adam was Tigger (again, but this year he kept the head thing on). Somehow they managed to have fun despite the lack of parental investment!

Some houses around our block were rather more into the holiday than us! We had our porch light off and only one person rang the bell (no treats for them, and no tricks for us, as far as we could tell). It helps that our street is still under construction, but we never have got as many as the next street over. They had more than 500 hits each this year! It was such nice weather--probably next year we'll get all geared up and then walk around in the rain!

The moon and Venus as we went in to bed.
