This Thanksgiving we took a week off to go out East. Our first stop, after a harrowing drive though Lake Erie lake effect snow, was at Jonathan and Maria's new house. The stop was just one overnight, but the kids had lots of fun in the morning before we got back on the road.

In Lancaster, Ollie and Brad were already on the scene. It was cold, but we went out to Grandpa Mark's bench for some snacks, as usual.
We also did some playground time. Here we are giving ourselves pretend underdogs of some sort.
On Monday we headed out to Rehoboth Beach. Even in the winter, the Siemens family likes to hit the shore. Looks beautiful in the pictures, doesn't it? Just don't imagine the temperatures!

Everyone helped out in the kitchen.
One of the reasons we got together was to talk about and remember Willa. Nana (Ollie and Ada's Grandma) was with us, too.
One afternoon we went out to scatter some rose petals that people had given us to remember our Willa.
This beach and its lighthouse were a new discovery for our family.
Grandma Jan had had foot surgery, so she wasn't able to walk on the beach as she would have done usually. But we still had lots of fun there.
These are some of the horseshoe crab shells I found.
One day at the beach we made a whole forest of driftwood "Christmas trees" for Grandma Jan.

The next day we had our family Christmas at home in Lancaster, starting with the nativity figures from Thailand.
That evening we saw the Christmas tree in downtown Lancaster light up for the season! The next morning we were back on the road. Thanks to everyone for a wonderful holiday.
