Our friend Sachiko, who visited us 4 years ago and again last June, was with us for a few days this past week. When she arrived, it was warm and sunny and summery, and we played outside for the first time in quite a few days. Sachiko always loves to be with us and play and talk together. She is studying English in L.A. now, so she is much more confident and we were able to talk and joke around a lot.
I had been asking every day when we could get the pool out. And that day finally arrived!
Mommy asked me to pose for a picture in my favorite footwear, and I plopped myself down on the sidewalk in front of the car and began waving my arms around. I certainly have been developing my own opinions and ways of doing things lately.
We walked to the Farmers' Market on Saturday morning.
In the afternoon we visited the Potawatomi Zoo, which was rather fun. There were lots of kinds of monkeys, and big cats (lions and two kinds of tigers and cheetahs, etc.) and camels, among other things. It was so odd--we discovered that the Zoo is about a 3-minute walk from John Adams High School, where Mommy taught French for a few months before they went to Japan in 1997. She never even knew it was there!
Sachiko's visit was great fun, and we hope to see her again soon. She made some Niku Jyaga (beef, veggies, and noodles) on Sunday night, and helped me with my homework for school. Monday morning was another grumpy time of having to say goodbye.
