Christmas at Home

The first day of Christmas at our home meant the "old" energy and water-guzzling washer and dryer went away...

...and were replaced by efficient holly-berry ones! We'll see if the color still feels fun by June.

Toy catalogs were pored over.

On the Saturday morning before Christmas, we had a nice breakfast, then gathered by the fire for some Christmas book (including Father Christmas, by Raymond Briggs, a super exciting find at Better World Books--a story Heidi grew up with).

We then proceeded to fill the living room with wrapping and boxes.


I hope the cardboard box wasn't the best part of Christmas! On the other hand...creativity is good!


We finished off the day with sukiyaki, which was a big hit! Whew! It is getting hard to enjoy the same menu these days, although I am thrilled to report that Adam has been getting into lettuce lately (as long as there is enough Ranch).

We had a nice Siemens-Rhodes Christmas, then 2 more days of school, then a huge Ford pick-up smashed the rear passenger door panel of the Civic, and then (2 hours later) we were on our way to Lancaster!
