Ladies and gentlemen, and children of all ages...

On Saturday we went to the CIRCUS! Two friends from Small Group came with us, and we were pretty excited, but not at all sure of what to expect.

[When the sign at the entrance said NO REFUNDS not once by twice, it did give us adults pause! But we plunged on ahead, into the building that is used for auctions during the MCC Sale in September. And we may as well list the disappointments here--not a Big Top tent, weird room set-up (only a fraction of the people got seats actually around the stage/ring area), etc. But generally it was what we expected, and the acts were rather well done!]

[Not sure why this picture won't load rotated correctly...]

The view from our bleachers. It's the pre-show pony ride going on in there.

After the "Ladies and gentlemen..." the show began with lions, white lions, and white tigers being un-ferocious-beast-like. After they went off-stage, the big round cage came down for the rest of the show.

Adam came home and began working on his back bends.

A six-year-old aerial artist. There were a number of kids in the show.

By the end she had 75 hoops going simultaneously.

When we heard that the elephant rides would be at intermission, we could hardly wait for intermission! We were near the front of the line (which meant that once we were done we had to wait for all the rest of the crowd to take their turns...).

The ride took all of 2 minutes, tops. But they are pretty impressive animals.

Then for the second half of the show. The Argentinian drummers were amazing. What our boys really remember most after the show was the littlest one of these four, in the background here (10-12 years old?) who took the mike and did a whole spiel about "I'm the boss." Most awesome quote, I guess...

This fire-twirling act was a highlight for some, and a low point for others.

The elephants were last of all, and by the time they were done we were ready to head home. Those bleachers were hard, and crowded, too! But it was a fun taste of the Big Top experience.
