A few weeks ago Al took a tour of our classrooms. He was in Daddy's class first, then Mommy brought him to Adam's class, after promising not to remove him from the cage--disease risk, you know.

Adam's classmates wanted to look at him up close.

After sitting on Mommy's desk for an hour or so, Al made his way to Theo's classroom. Here everyone who wanted to was able to hold Al, and that was fun. After a while he seemed to warm up, and even jumped around on people's arms and shirts. Mrs. Young was taking pictures while Mommy oversaw the holding, so we don't have pictures of that yet.

Kindergartners aren't too old to get down on the floor to check Al out!

Then it was time to say goodbye to Al. We had been emailing with a person from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources who said that Al should be put into "the wild" before it got too cold, so he could get used to living on his own and dig in to hibernate for the winter.

We set him free under one of the big hostas in our backyard.

Here he goes! We haven't seen him since, but we think we hear him trilling happily in the night.
