Susan and Christina's Room

Anyone who has spent time in our guest room (formerly known as Christina's room, and then Susan's room) might recognize this wallpaper. Or then again, maybe not. Not terribly memorable. And there were lots of holes in it, and cracks...so we decided to have a friend of ours from small group paint the room last week.

First we stuffed all the huge furniture into the middle of the room and covered it with tarps. You can see in this picture how neutral the wallpaper was.

Then Alfonso went to work on the paper, ending up using a steamer. It took a whole day, and then more to wash off the paste.

Here's the room all primed. On this day, Adam had some diaper rash, and when I applied diaper cream Theo called it "primer."

The finished look. Alfonso did a lot of wonderful repair work, and we did a lot of agonizing over colors, but I think the end result merited the effort. The bookshelves are the last step, not up again yet.

We were so glad the work was done in time to host our first guest, Grandma Jan! She arrived less than 24 hours after the last paint was painted.
