Well, out in Iowa it was just us four guys and big machines! We rode a few rounds, then Theo got a whole round-trip to Kalona in the tractor with Uncle Chris, and Adam ended up napping in the combine for a while.
You can see Adam at the window really taking in all the action. Mitch enjoyed running the combine himself for about 4 hours later on Friday.
But our short trip wasn't all work and no play. We got into Grandma Charlene's dress-up barrels, and especially enjoyed her unbelievable wig collection!
Can you believe that Daddy bought these because he thought they were cool? For real?
Vince came over and hung around with us on Friday night, and some quiet reading came along with the running around and tussling. It was good to see Becca, too.
Another big hit this weekend were table-top puzzles, 30-100 or so pieces. We did start with a gray and black and white polar bear one, but it was so hard, and had some of its 200 pieces missing, that we finally had to quit. Then we stuck to the brighter ones, and had a lot of fit-together fun.
We stopped by Grandpa Eldon and Grandma Dorothy's house, and Grandma helped us with a puzzle we brought along, a great new way to play together (good suggestion, Grandma Charlene)!
As we left Iowa City on Saturday morning, a beautiful full rainbow marked the last day of harvest! Did you see it from the combine, Grandpa Dale? We were so glad to have another chance to enjoy a bit of the farm life Daddy grew up with.
