Visiting Christina

On Saturday we went to see Christina in Lafayette. On the way we stopped and checked out these humongous trucks at a town festival. They parked a "Smart" car in the bucket of this loader!

Here's my intro to the rest of the day.

Look who greeted us at Krispy Kreme! How did she get the coolest job in the world? She shared her weekly free donuts with us, so we were lucky, too.

At Krispy Kreme you can watch the donuts being made. They were fixing the machine when we got there, but as we were leaving we saw a batch of donut holes go through the whole process.

Hats for everyone!

These first bites were worth the three-hour drive.

But of course, it was great to see Christina, too!

We went and saw Christina's apartment and met her roommate, Yu Jin, and then went to a park. There was this huge climbing rock there, fake but fun.

Christina pushed me on the swing. She pushed me every time, not just once in a while like Mommy and Daddy.

Mommy got mulch on her feet, and I helped her clean them off. She didn't ask me to, and she seemed a bit surprised that I would want to.

There was also a fountain at this park, and we loved peering into it and throwing sticks and wishing coins in.

We ate supper at a Korean restaurant with Christina and Yu Jin, and although we liked the food, it was hard to sit still in the nice restaurant. There was an Asian store next door, and Christina bought us Korean ice cream after supper, and that was the best! I had a sweet potato ice cream bar, complete with a skin of cone-like-material...

...and I had a delicious chocolate popsicle that was contained in a little plastic bottle-thing, so you sucked it out and didn't have to worry about drips. I think Christina's was a red bean popsicle. Anyway, it was a fun day, and we hope she comes to visit us again soon!

Breaking news: We got up this morning, had a nice Father's Day breakfast (donuts, of course, and our new local find, croissants from a Mexican bakery downtown), and got ready to ride our bikes to church. But when we went out to the garage, both doors were wide open, and the bikes and trailer were GONE!!! After church we called the police, and we hope they are found soon. The weird thing is that the flag from our trailer was stuck in the lawn of a park nearby, and Daddy's hat, which had also been in the trailer, was in the gutter down the street. I guess we had better always lock the garage and the bikes in it, and leave our porch light on when we go on a day trip. The trikes, lawn mower, and Slip 'n' Slide were not taken...whew!
