Sachiko's Visit

Our friend Sachiko came to visit us this past week. She lives in Japan, and went to Orlando before Goshen and Los Angeles after Goshen. But we're pretty sure Michiana was the most thrilling stop on her trip. She was one of Mommy and Daddy's adult English class students in Japan, and she visited us in Goshen once before, just after we had moved into this house.

One thing we know about Sachiko is that she always brings amazing gifts! This time she brought a model set of the Kinkakuji Temple in Kyoto, and since she could see that it would have been a bit hard for me to make, she spent the first afternoon making it "with" me. Unfortunately, the teeny golden bird from the top got lost in the process, but it still looks cool.

We cooked supper for Sachiko one of the nights she was here, and of course then we had to go to The Chief for the appropriate dessert.



On the way home Mommy pulled some long grass for us, and we pretended we were fishing. Sachiko took the bait!

One morning we visited the library to show her Mommy's work, and to sit on the nice lobby lady's lap.


We played outside in the water the second afternoon-- it was just not hot enough to go out to a real swimming pool.


Warning to all our cousins: This sort of fun will not be appreciated with a real cup at the supper table.

Sachiko helped clean up the milk box blocks before our babysitter came and the grown ups went out for supper.

I have been really having fun helping with dishes these days (by the way).

Another of Sachiko's gifts was a new touch-screen digital camera! Crazy. Anyway, this was one of the pictures Daddy took either with the macro-close-up feature or smile-click feature, which takes the picture when the face in view smiles. This is Daddy's favorite new toy.



When Sachiko was here she often looked at us and said, "Genki ippai!" This roughly translates as "Wow--they have lots of energy!"

It was a fun visit, and we hope Sachiko will come again soon.
