On the Way Home from Vail

Well, this lovely week in the mountains did come to an end, as all good things do. We eventually had to head over Vail Pass and back east, and it was snowy and fairly treacherous driving over the pass and down to Denver on our way out, as it had been on our way in. So grateful for the sunny days in-between.




My cousin Kora gave us tickets to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. As usual, it pays to know a 5th grade teacher. :) What a perfect way to pass a couple of hours! We loved the mummy and dinosaur exhibits in particular.

These promo pirates were throughout the museum in honor of an upcoming "Real Pirates" exhibit.

The exhibits were fun, but the best part was the hands-on area, and specifically the mirrors below:






After all that jollity (and getting an expert opinion on our brake light being on--mountain driving can do that, it seems), we met my cousin Paul for coffee and a brief chat. Too brief, but fun.

Next stop, Kora's house. We ate supper with Kora and Les, and my Aunt Jane and uncle Mervin, and the two March 12 birthday boys had another early celebration!

So much fun to play with Tim's old Legos and K-Nex! And especially with Tim himself!

Les also joined in on the engineering feats.

We were all pretty zonkered on the way home--the older boys even napped. And Ira did, too, just not in this video. We pushed on through and arrived home at 3:30 a.m., glad for the chance to do all these fun things, and glad to be safely home.
