Quick Trip to PA

Last weekend we flew (by which I mean drove there and back quickly and were there a short while!) to PA so that I could lead a retreat with my mother, a first for us! We had been asked to reflect on Dad's sudden death 6 years ago. It was a wonderful expereince to work with Mom on this project...and we think it turned out ok. :)

This was Ira's first visit to PA, and we found time to visit Grandpa Mark's bench for the usual snack and nature walk.

Unfortunately, we had to visit the Wizard next, as Mom's front door lock got jammed!

Silver lining: gettng to observe a locksmith at work.

On the day of the retreat, Super Dad Mitch had all three boys. He hung out with another family (friends from Iowa/GC) for some of the day.

Then he took the boys and a friend to the good old Science Factory. Ira went along for the ride in the sling.

Birthday celebration #4, on March 12, the day itself! The cake is from the Italian Bakery, and is meant to be a frog. Hmmmm...it was more fun than yum. Too bad the cakemakers in the family were busy all day at that retreat. We'll see what happens when I try my hand at the requested fire engine cake this coming weekend.
Thanks for a good visit, Grandma Jan! See you for a REAL visit in April!
