In an earlier post, you saw Theo's new bike. Adam's new thing this summer is a sandbox (which we share). A social service in the area was giving away free sand, so Daddy got the idea into his head to make a sandbox, and with some consultation with Grandpa Dale, he bought the lumber, prepared the spot in our yard (figuring out where to put it may have been the toughest part), built the frame, got the sand (with Uncle Dean's help), and made a cover. He seemed to enjoy this kind of job, maybe even more because he's missing out on farm work this summer.

I had my own work station next to Daddy, with REAL NAILS and a REAL HAMMER.

Oops--this is the kind of damage real hammers can do. Daddy's finger got smashed, but feels pretty much better now. (I should note that
Daddy hit his own finger, it wasn't me.)

Front row seat.

A door into another world.

All done! We had bought some great new toys at Goodwill to play with in the new sandbox, including a big old crane (behind Theo).

The last step was making little seats for two corners. The sound of the saw drew us to it like moths to a flame.

Daddy showed me how to measure his 1-foot feet...

And me! Can you guess how many inches I am? Just about three of Daddy's feet.
