The first leg of our trip took us though Chicago rush hour traffic (grr...) to Northfield, Minnesota.

Lunch at a rest stop.

Candace and Phil know what kids like after 9 hours in the car. We went to two parks that afternoon.

Candace gave me a few pointers on kicking the ball back and forth, something my parents have been very remiss in teaching me. I also enjoyed tossing the Nerf football, much to my parents surprise! :) We played in Candace and Phil's great backyard, and had yummy stir fry for supper.

Candace read us lots of books before bedtime.

Candace and Phil had to leave early the next morning, but we were glad for the hours we had with them.

Our next stop was Hastings, Minnesota, where Brian got us into the Y pool a couple of times.

It happened to be "Rivertown Days," so we got in on some entertainment. These dogs are waiting in line to run down a dock and long jump into a pool.

And on to the midway...for thrills!

Can you find us?

We should have known that Martha's extensive children's library would include the original book of the Boxcar Children series. It was great to read this first installment, where they actually live in the boxcar!

A view of the river.

On our last evening we enjoyed a Middle Eastern feast, ma'lube and all the trimmings, and a fireworks display to top it off.
Nice Photos!!
